Everyone has a Kobe story today. Here is ours.

I’m the female half of this site, and for Christmas, I surprised my youngest son Ben, a diehard LeBron fan, with tickets to see the Lakers in Los Angeles. We saw Mavs at Lakers on Dec. 29, and during pregame, in walked Kobe Bryant with daughter Gianna by his side.

“It’s Kobe,” my older son, Harry shrieked. No last name necessary.

They sat in courtside seats; we were in the nearby endzone in close proximity and all of us gazed over frequently. The smile rarely left her face. LeBron shook his hand. He got cheered again and again. It added a layer of magic for us on what was a memorable night.

That was less than a month ago.

At LadySwish, we’re deeply saddened by the loss of a great ambassador for women’s basketball and a future star and three families touched by tragedy.

The losses have touched all of us.
