Perseverance pays off! Reigning CAA Player of the Year Kamiah Smalls (JMU), drafted by the WNBA’s Indiana Fever, is
Wubble bound after all.
If you recall, Smalls was on quite a high when she heard her name on TV during April’s WNBA draft. But due to COVID-19, the league didn’t hold training camp. Smalls got cut before ever putting on a Fever uniform.
A roster spot opened last week, and Smalls, just a few days from leaving for the team she signed with in Italy, got the call. Here’s a snipped of our DM chat with her. We’ll be keeping up with the Fever’s No. 3 (she wore the same number for the purple and gold) going forward.
What’s the plan for going to the “Wubble,” and what was. your reaction when you got the call?

So you are in Florida in quarantine. Tell us what that is like. How do you pass the time? What do you do without a hoop?

Do you know yet when you will be on the sidelines? Also, share one thing you didn’t expect.

Stay tuned for more. Got a question for Kamiah? DM us!
