As this is a day to wish all of our moms a happy Mother’s Day, we wanted to send a LadySwish greeting from new mom Emily Correal.
Kyler James Cheatham was born April 16, weighing in at a whopping 9 pounds, 10 ounces, 21 inches. He is the son of Correal, former team captain of the Tribe who starred there from 2009-2013, and Akron hoopster Kwan Cheatham, Jr.
Emily, now retired, played overseas in Italy and Belgium after college. Kwan also played in Belgium and France.
“Motherhood has taught me to be selfless and has given me a whole new wonderful kind of love in my life,” Correal said. “I’ve always wanted to be a mama, so this has been a dream come true.
“Kyler James is the sweetest baby! He barely ever fusses or cries — only if he is hungry or needs changed. He has long arms, fingers and toes. He will most likely be tall like his daddy (6’10”) and I (6’2”). He is so loved. I spent my first Mother’s Day visiting with my parents, my in-laws and my sister’s family.”
Correal started 114 games for the Tribe and amassed 1,349 career points.
